2. The Body May Have More Difficulty Regulating Temperature
After 70, the body’s ability to respond quickly to temperature changes can become less reliable.
Some older adults may feel colder than they used to, while others may have difficulty recognizing or responding to excessive heat. Sweating and other temperature-regulation responses can also change.
This matters because older adults can be more vulnerable to both overheating and becoming dangerously cold.
During extreme weather, appropriate clothing, a comfortable indoor temperature, and adequate fluid intake become especially important.
